UPERFECT GR16HQ OLED Portable Gaming Monitor reviewed by RePlayGaming

What's going on guys? It's Jake here from Replay. And today I'm super excited to share this with you guys because the other week, UPERFECT reached out and said, hey, do you want to do a video on one of our monitors? You know, here's our catalog, take a look, let us know what you think. Now, obviously UPERFECT is a great company. They have great monitors. And when they offered to send me a, an OLED monitor or any monitor really, to have a look at and make a video for you guys, 100%, I jumped on it. Yes, they sent it to me for free, but as always, anything I say or whatever is, is completely my own opinion. They haven't requested to like, see the video beforehand or want me to touch on any. Dot points or anything. So, we're just gonna take a look at it. I've filmed the unboxing. We'll run through the specs, what's included in the box. We'll get some games up and running on here. because it is a UPERFECT GR16HQ 3K OLED, I think the best way to kind of showcase this and see what it's all about would be obviously to just chuck the RAG Xbox LAX on it. I've downloaded a bunch of games. We'll see how they play. The setup was stupid easy. I'll quickly run through that as well, before we get into it all. What's Included in the Box

Monitor and Accessories

So before we actually jump into some gameplay and see what this thing looks like in action, let's quickly go over exactly what UPERFECT sent me and what you're actually getting with the monitor. Inside the box, you obviously get the monitor itself, but they also include pretty much everything you need to actually start using it straight away, right? You got 2 USB-C and USB-C cables. Mini HDMI to full-size HDMI, a USB-C power adapter, and the instructions manual.

Magnetic Cover and Stand

The monitor also comes with this little, like, magnetic cover thinker. Basically, it's just there to protect your screen while you're playing and it literally just snaps onto the back. So, if I just put this down for a second, here it is there, and it literally just snaps onto the back. Alright, you just fold this thing away if you don't want to use it, and you've got full screen coverage, nice and easy. But then obviously pick it back up. And it doubles as a stand as well, which is really, really nice, I love that little addition, and that just comes as a standard with the monitor as well.

Laptop Bag and Backpack

UPERFECT also did send me their laptop bag which just fits this monitor really, really nice. And they also threw in this like UPERFECT backpack. I'll try show it here, it's just very hard, it's pretty big. Now I've actually looked around for this thing and I just cannot find it listed anywhere on the website, so I've genuinely got like no idea if this is something that they're planning on selling or if it's just something that they've decided to throw in. But either way, it's a pretty nice backpack and definitely wasn't something I was expecting to get, but hey, I am not complaining. This thing is fricking awesome.

UPERFECT GR16HQ Specifications

Display and Resolution

Now obviously the main thing we're here for is the monitor itself, right? And on paper, This thing is just pretty crazy. The one they sent me is the UPERFECT GR16HQ. Basically, it's a 16-inch OLED panel with a 16 by 10 aspect ratio. And of course, a resolution of 2880 by 1800, so basically 3K.

Refresh Rate, Response Time, and HDR

You've then got a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 1 millisecond response time, which is obviously where that starts getting juicy for gaming. You've also got HDR support, a 100% DCI P3 color coverage. And up to 500 nits of brightness. And of course, because it's OLED you've got that 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio with these deep blacks that you just don't get from a normal LCD panel.

Weight and Portability

And despite all of that, the monitor itself only weighs like 720 g I think it was. I'll put it on the screen if I was wrong, but I'm pretty sure 720 g. So it is genuinely like still portable, right, it's just not heavy at all.

Connectivity

For connectivity, you've got two full featured USB-C ports as well as a mini-HDMI. And if your device supports display port or USB-C, you can basically just plug your handheld, laptop, emulation device or mobile straight into it, and it's just gonna work.

HDMI and USB-C Refresh Rate Limitations

One thing that is worth pointing out though, is that if you want full 3K resolution through HDMI, you're limited to 75 Hz. You can get 120Hz at 2K through HDMI while USB-C supports the 4. 120 Hz.

Speakers and Mounting Support

Also, it's got in-built speakers and mounting support, so you don't necessarily have to use this as a portable display either. You can very easily work it into a more permanent desk or gaming setup as well. You can buy them out from their website. I just completely forgot to add this to my cart. So straight after this, I'm gonna go ahead and order one because I really do like this thing and I just want this set up somewhere.

Testing the 3K OLED Display

But specs are one thing. What I actually wanted to know was how good a 16 inch 3K OLED display looks like when I throw some games onto it. Because I haven't used an OLED panel before, like an OLED monitor, like yes, my Thor is an OLED, my Steam Deck is an OLED, but it's just not the same as having something this big and this bright.

And like straight away, even just looking at this UI it is so much nicer than the Thor, so much nicer than the Steam deck, so I'm keen to jump into some games. I wanna see what it's all about. Let's plug in the RAG Xbox LAX, let's set this up over there where I can actually get comfortable to play some games, and let's see how it all looks.

First OLED Impressions

I think UPERFECT have unlocked something in me I didn't want unlocked because now I want to upgrade my main monitor to an OLED. But I, I really don't wanna be forking out the funds for like a big 32 inch OLED. But this looks so crisp.

Game Testing

Alright, let, let's try a different game, we've seen what this is like. Ignore my skills I say it in every video, but I've got big skill issues with a lot of games. I spend more time testing games and just playing with tech than actually like playing games these days, so bear with me. Yep. Alright, hang on, alright, let's get out of this. Let's try a different one.

Image Quality and Colors

That is clean. That is so nice. Alright, so we're at, we're our resolution is pretty high right now, we're not skipping a beat in this game, much easier to run than Cyberpunk. I remember watching a video from Cyber Dopamine and he's like, OLED is just the king, I just can't use anything else other than OLED. I'm like, bro, can't be that much better. But this is nice. Alright, let's see that bright blue again, let's have a look at that blue. That is good.

Additional Game Testing

Alright, I could be here all day doing this, let's try a different game. Alright, it's been a minute since I've played this, big skill issues all round, let's give it a crack. Where am I going? I'm in the middle of a run too, this is gonna, and it's a boss fight, this is gonna be terrible guys. Alright, may as well just see me get my butt kicked. Why not, hey? You're not gonna buy me dinner before you, you know what, it's a sponsored video, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna say what I was gonna say.

Xbox Game Pass and Controller Issue

Why isn't that Alright, let's give Xbox Game Pass a bit of love, or maybe not. I don't think it wants to play, oh, it's gonna work? Nope. Alright. Doesn't wanna recognize my bloody AP2 controller, unless it's in Steam mode, which is fricking annoying. So I'm just gonna pick up the console for this one.

OLED Visual Quality

And as expected, this little monitor is performing exactly how I need it to. This is so nice to look at. The colors are just popping. It's done me guys; I'm officially an OED fanboy.

Desire for a Larger OLED Monitor

Now, as soon as I finished filming this, I'm jumping online. I, I need an OLED monitor, like a, a bigger one for my main rig. This is just way too nice. That's what it's about right there, boys, that's what it's about. Alright, let's wrap it up there.

Portable Monitor Experience

I've tested a few portable monitors so far, none of them have been OLED, and purely just based on that, this is by far my pick, so far. And 16 inches as well, like to me that's the perfect portable size, I don't really want it any bigger, I don't want it any smaller. If I'm gonna go camping or something, this is gonna be really, really nice setup. It's bright, it's vibrant, it just does everything that I need it to do.

Final Thoughts

Alright, final thoughts, alright, while it's still fresh, while it's here, I've been playing on this now for a while. Obviously, I'll trim down as much of it as I can. I'll make this short video hopefully.

Honestly, this thing, it's not even so much about UPERFECT or the brand, like I'm pretty new to OLED panels in, in general, like, as I said, my only experience with an OLED panel is the Steam Deck, and the Steam Deck's only 720p so, Having this at a 3K resolution in an OLED like panel, this is just second to none to me, this is just really, really nice.

Now I'm just a bit upset because now I need to upgrade my other stuff, and I don't want to spend the money to do that right now, I can't even afford that right now, it is just way too expensive. But honestly, I'm super happy that I have this in my arsenal now that I've got this as part of my setup.
