This portable monitor is a great size at 24.5 inches. It has 2K resolution with 165 Hz refresh rate. It's crazy thin, yet still vibrant. That's insane.

This is the UPERFECT ZX245CQ, a little bit of a confusing name, a high-end portable monitor that I use to upgrade my on the go setup with. Full disclosure though, UPERFECT did send this to me for free in exchange for a review. So, make sure to do your own research on if this monitor is what you're looking for, but I genuinely did.

Using the Monitor While Traveling

Working Away From a Desktop PC

But during that, Time, I have still been able to do YouTube work using this portable monitor setup in my trailer. I normally dislike working on my laptop because the screen is so small compared to my setup at home, but the UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24) really helped me get used to working on the go again. So, let's begin with the unboxing.

Unboxing and Included Accessories

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

I knew what model I was getting and how big it was, but it just, when you get it in person, the box looks really big. But it's very well-packed. It comes with the whole monitor panel, obviously, a bunch of different cables, but most importantly, a power adapter, a mini.

HDMI to full HDMI and some USB-C cords. And if I decide to set this thing up as my home setup, then it does come with Vesa mounting screws where you can put it on a stand and just treat it like a regular old monitor. And they also sent a carrying case, and when I'm carrying this thing, I feel like a big shot, like it's like a suitcase, it's crazy.

Build Quality and Portability

Thin and Lightweight Design

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

The monitor itself, it feels really well built. They do use metal and it is very thin at 15 millimeters or for my American viewers, 0.59 inches. And even with size, it only weighs about 5.5 pounds.

Folding Stand and Stability

The built-in folding stand is also built well, it feels very sturdy, and the rubber bottom, it makes it not slip when you're on a slippery surface, like a smooth table. But so far, no complaints on how they built this thing. It definitely feels like a high-end portable monitor.

Display Quality and Visual Experience

2K Resolution

And now for the screen, it's 2K resolution, and if you're like me using this with a laptop with another screen, some of the icons look so tiny, so you can go into your Windows settings and you can kind of zoom it in and make it match and you can see things better. I did about 10 minutes of editing with the tiny screen and then switched it over to match my laptop. If you're watching movies or playing games, make sure to get that 2K though.

HDR Support

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

It does have HDR support if that's something you use. I haven't actually messed with HDR too much. I know if I switch to HDR then it's gonna be hard to go back.

Here's a good example of how HDR can improve the contrast between dark and light. It really can make the picture look nicer. It has 100% SRGB color gamut, which is good news for anyone doing photo or video.

Viewing Angle and Color

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

Editing, a 178-degree viewing angle, which I'm, if I move this from side to side, you can see there's no shift in the color. Now, the refresh rate, it is advertised at 165 Hz, but that is over type C. So, if you are using the mini-HDMI to whichever, your laptop, your switch, and anything over HDMI it's capped at 144 Hz.

Refresh Rate and Gaming Performance

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

So, there is a slight difference there. And don't get me wrong, 144 is fantastic for a portable monitor. I mean, mine at home, for my home setup for my PC. I have one that only goes up to 120 and the other 175.

So, you know, maybe I should replace one of my monitors with this UPERFECT one. And if you're gonna game on this thing, it has 10 millisecond response time, so it makes gaming a lot smoother. I've only played my Switch 2 on this monitor, but it is far superior to my 15-year-old Insignia TV I've been streaming on.

Touchscreen Functionality

Turning the Monitor Into a Tablet

As for the touchscreen, I don't have much use for that feature yet, but it basically turns it into a big tablet. It would be very Useful for anyone in creative design that has a stylus for drawing art on the screen, as well as an easier way for kids to play interactive educational games. Also, fun fact, if you hit the Windows button, control and O at the same time, you can use the on-screen keyboard instead of a real one.

Accessibility Features

You can also turn it on or off in your accessibility settings. So, after using this monitor for editing YouTube videos, playing my Switch 2 games, and watching shows with my wife, mostly anime, we finally had the time to finish re-watching Attack on Titan. Which one should we Watch next.

Let me know in the comments. But back to the point, I am very happy with the UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24) because I love having the large screen for editing. I mean, and for watching stuff.

Everyday Use and Large-Screen Experience

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

Editing and Watching Content

It's just, I prefer having a larger screen in general. It's literally twice the size of my laptop, so it really does make working on the go easier and gives us a bigger screen so we can sit farther back, get comfortable, and still be able to see everything the way we want to watching a show. And honestly, having the portability of this monitor, it would go perfect with a Bluetooth keyboard.

Portable Workstation Setup

Like my eight-bit do one, you can get smaller versions than this. I just like my number pad. And then combining that with a mini PC making the setup more customizable, smaller, and portable.

Price and Value

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

Want one of these for working, gaming, and watching movies on the go. The cost of the monitor sits around $490 US dollars before discounts, which, of course, I have a code for you to save up to $80. Although without the touchscreen feature, it is $50 less.

This thing is not cheap, but I'll share my experience with you, and then we can see if it's worth the price. I've been lucky enough to take a six-week vacation this past summer, driving 36 hours one way back to Ontario to see family for my daughter's first birthday. So that is a very long time to be away from my PC.

Price Compared With Other Monitors

High-End Specifications

But it's a high-end monitor with great numbers all around, apart from the price being a pretty shocking amount compared to a base-level monitor anyway, with 1080p and, you know, all the base specs. Of course, I'll have links in the description if you're interested in checking it out and make sure to use my code for a discount. But if size and specs don't matter so much to you, UPERFECT does also have Different models with smaller screens, lower specs, and far less money.

Touchscreen and Non-Touchscreen Pricing

But as I mentioned before, for the UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24), if you do choose to go with the non-touch screen, it is $50 cheaper, and that can be a significant amount. So in summary, if you're in the market for a portable monitor with specs that will keep pace with the market for years to come, it can certainly be worth spending the money on a good one that you can use for 10 years. I mean, that comes out to like 50, 60 bucks a year if you use it for 10 years.

Final Thoughts on the UPERFECT ZX245CQ

UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMAX 24)

I personally don't think I'd spend this much on a portable monitor. I was lucky enough to get it for free from UPERFECT, but then again, I don't play nearly as many video games as I used to since becoming a dad. So big shout out to UPERFECT for sending me this.

I'm either gonna replace one of my monitors or I'm gonna replace my old Insignia TV to get a better response time for playing an 18 year old game on stream. But I hope you found this review helpful. Make sure to look into things yourself, gather more information before buying.
