Hey everyone, Tech Dad here, and in today's video, I'm going to show you how to use a touchscreen monitor with the M4 Mac Mini. Today’s sponsor is UPERFECT, and they’ve sent over this beautiful 24-inch portable monitor that is actually a touch display. It’s designed to take with you on the go or move around in a classroom or workstation. It’s going to be really awesome for setting up interactive pieces in a business or education environment.
If you want your students or clients to interact directly with information on your Mac, a touchscreen display is a perfect solution. In this video, I’ll give you a full review of this monitor, show you what’s in the box, explain how it works, and share some great use cases for pairing a portable touchscreen display with a Mac Mini. It’s really fun so let’s get into it.
Monitor Overview & Specifications

This is the UPERFECT ZX245CQ (UMax 24 Touch). It’s a 24.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440, which makes it a 2K monitor. It supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate, which is impressive as long as your device can handle it.
You can purchase this monitor in different sizes, and you can choose whether or not you want the touch display feature. For a portable monitor, this thing is huge basically as big as an iMac display. At the same time, it’s super light, simple, and easy to use.

Ports & Design
The monitor keeps things minimal with just three ports on the side: two USB-C ports and one mini HDMI port.
It also features a very sturdy kickstand that allows you to set it at multiple angles depending on your preference. That flexibility makes it easy to adjust whether you’re working at a desk or setting up an interactive station.

What’s in the Box & Power Setup
Inside the box, you get a few different cables. There’s a USB-C to USB-C cable designed for both audio and video output, so you can send everything through a single cable. The monitor also has built-in speakers. They’re decent good enough for showing a simple video to students or for basic media playback.
What’s really nice is that the Mac Mini can actually power the monitor on its own without needing the separate power cable. However, when switching the display settings to HDR, you may get a message suggesting you plug in the power cable for additional power. Thankfully, they include a USB-C power cable and power brick just in case you need it.

General Usage & Media Experience
Using the monitor is simple. It’s portable, easy to move around, and adjusting the kickstand is effortless. The display quality is honestly very good great for watching movies or YouTube videos. The built-in speakers are there if you need them.
It’s also solid for gaming. Testing World of Warcraft on this display showed vibrant colors and bright visuals. Everything looked great. For productivity, the 24-inch screen provides plenty of space for Keynote or PowerPoint presentations and general work tasks.

Portrait Mode & Productivity
One really cool feature is the ability to rotate the monitor into portrait mode. You can adjust your display settings and turn it 90 degrees.
This is becoming more popular in workplaces. Many people set up a secondary display vertically for viewing notes, reading documents, or reviewing code if they’re developers. It’s a fantastic option for maximizing productivity.

Touch Functionality & Limitations
What truly makes this monitor stand out is its touch capability. You can use touch for basic navigation, like tapping to play a video. However, you’re not getting the full benefit of a touchscreen if you’re only using it for simple Mac navigation.
macOS isn’t really designed for touch-based scrolling or full gesture support. So, while the touch works well, it’s not meant to replace a keyboard and mouse for everyday Mac navigation.
Best Use Cases for Touch
Where this monitor shines are in interactive setups.
If you’re running a booth at a business conference and want an interactive display for visitors, this is perfect. If you own a restaurant and want an interactive menu in the lobby, that’s another great use case. And in an educational setting, it’s incredibly powerful.
For example, you could design an interactive Keynote or PowerPoint presentation for students. In this case, he created a wildlife lesson about sea turtles. The presentation included interactive buttons, videos, and informational slides that students could navigate just by touching the screen. No keyboard or mouse required. Students can simply walk up and start exploring.
That’s the real benefit of a touchscreen monitor like this.

Final Thoughts
Overall, this interactive touch display pairs really well with an M4 Mac Mini especially in educational environments. It opens up creative and interactive learning possibilities.
